HELP !! error 277 rive not ready?

I have an error Unable to select drive Compaq SDLT3200, The drive is not ready or inopertable (277)

All it wanted was a cleaning tape which I gave it now it dont wanna work?

Anyone have any ideas please, I have just inherited this pile or garbage and not impressed.
