Please forgive what (hopefully) is a fairly basic question from a newbie!

I want to migrate my Clipper apps to XBASE++ but have a big problem. All my printing is processed using ESCAPE - a library I bought years ago which enables me to control HP printers with simple commands. For example hpCentre(..) centers text even with proportionally spaced fonts. Excellent!

Trouble is the library file is incompatible with Xbase++ and the vendors (Pinnacle Publishing) no longer seem to exist.

I really can't face converting all my software immediately to graphical printing - that's the whole point of Xbase++ anyway to avoid the immediate hassle.

Can anyone suggest a solution please?

Surely there are not many COMMANDS or FUNCTIONS()
in the ESCAPE library?

Can you not copy the source code and then tweak the
commands/functions to suit XBASE++.

I have converted several packages now successfully,
and the report printing was a simple exercise to do.
I am using SET DEVICE TO PRINT and either
@ nrow,ncol SAY
OR
? "print line..."
Both work OK under XBASE++

Now I am writing my own source code for a WYSIWYG
REPORT and LABEL Generator to replace RL (I have many
clients using my hybrid version of RL for DOS that includes
SCRIPTS/MACROS and use of relational databases).

Cheers,
Jim
