Hi!

My machine is running OS-AIX 4.3.4 and Oracle DB 7.3.4

I cannot start DB when using SVRMGRL mode it always fail?

svrmgrl> connect internal
Connected on idle instance.
svrmgrl> startup

After which it will return to the OS promtp without starting the DB.

What are the things I should look for or verify? Do you know any issue regarding oracle 7.3.4 running in AIX 4.3.4.

Are you using the correct OS-User and are the variables $ORACLE_HOME and $ORACLE_SID set?
Does errpt tell you anything?

Stefan

have a look at the Oracle alert log - alertDBNAME.log
