Hi,

Is there anyway I can mulnipulate the autonumber field. I have a form with the following info: Owner, Cabinet Number (autonumber), Cabinet Name, File Type and File Name. There are three owners: George, Scott and Alex. I want the autonumber to be distinct for the three owners. For example:
George has 5 Cabinet Number(autonumber), however when i want to add a new file name for Scott it should start on the Scott's last input it should not proceed as 6. If this doesn't make sense please let me know.... thanks

I'm not totaly clear on what you are looking for but it seems to me that I would let the autonumber assign automatically and store the owners number on the cabinet record. To the best of my knowlege there is no way to manipulate an autonumber, it would circumvent the purpose.

Autonumbers are usually transparent to the end user and therefore don't need to be manipulated (under most circumstances).

Lloyd.
