Hello dear community, you rank high in google so i found a lot of traces to this place :) ive tried to look at posts, the ipecs manual etc. but cant figure out the following:

(i am as of today in charge of our ipecs, and i have big conserns about the server beeing accessible via WAN, and the 1234 password ..)

1. Where can i change the 1234 default password? Will this have any consecuenses? (i am the only admin)
2. In the user table, i see a lot of users with the following password-scheme: 201*, 202*, 102* etc. What does the * mean?
3. Why is the webadmin accesible via WAN? Is it not sufficient to only be able to access the web-admin via internal networking?

Sorry for the list, if someone could help im sure any newcommer also would benefitt from the answers?

We have the iPECS 300.

Hello

1)The Admin password can be changed in PGM 162 which is in System Data.. Best not to use 1234, as its not a secure passowrd.

2)PGM 227 Auth Code Table is the station users auth code - make sure these are also secure.. The * (star) is just a digit, part of the auth code.... Dont have basic passwords like you say they have... Cos if I know one stations password I know them all !!

3 the system need not be accessable via the WAN - could stop the router, routing http traffic to the systems internal IP Address.
But now you have changed the Admin password - its now secure, with a new complex password..

Regards
Steve

Hello! Thanks Steve for the answers! In my webadmin, i can see the System Data, but only three choices beneath it:

System Data
Attendant Assignment(164)
System Date & Time(178)
System Speed Dial

Am i searching in the correct place here?

Regarding the course montyzummer/ Steve, yes i definetly should proceed with this after securing the device.
