Hello all,

I have a problem with Networker Module for exchange trying to backing up a lot of mailboxes.

It takes too long time to finish. it takes a week to backup 1000 mailboxes with an LTO ULtrium Drives.

Please, how can I do for improve this behavior??

Thanks you,

Are you doing individual mailbox backups, or are you doing just the MSEXCH: save set?

We are doing the MSEXCH saveset and we also have LTO drives. 2 drives can backup about 1000 mailboxes in 3 hours.

When backing up Mailboxes in Exchange, using the Networker module for Exchange (NME), the Exchange server extracts each mailbox individually from the IS, and saves it to a temp .pst file. Then, NME backs up these individual .pst files. So the performance bottleneck in this case is caused by your Exchange server. If you get a more powerful (more RAM, faster processor, multiple processors) Exchange machine, your backups will be faster. This is a limitation of Exchange, NOT Networker!

Hello Backupworker,

The saveset I'm using is MSEXCH:MB, and it takes too long.

The MSEXCH: by itself not backup the mailboxes...

Thanks you,

Hello Serbtastic,

I know that, I sell Networker too and I know how NME works... jeje, but the Exchange Server is powerfull. sometimes takes 5 hrs and sometimes takes 1 week to backup the mailboxes.

Thanks you,
