HELLLP reformatted & reinstall 98, cant get IE 6

I had a virus(BAD) had to reformat the hard drive. Used the reinstll disc. However, it had on it ie5. I backedup all the outlook 6 dbx's and the internet settings, but cant use them now.
I do not currently have it attached to internet. So I went to MS and did the DLL of ie6 to a floppy. Cant use it. I guess the self extracting file needs the internet to start.
ANY suggestions on getting the IE 6 installed so that I can setup the settings and try to get on....

I've installed 5 then connected to M$ for the download. Guess the last time was about a month agol

you can download a redistributable setup of ie6 sp1 here but be warned that it's a bulky 79MB download. why can't you just use ie5 to connect to the net then download the updates needed?

How did you back up your settings? You should be able to update to I.E.6 on Win update, and "import settings" from your backup. I had to do this once, IE5 won't read IE6 files. Just update and you should be OK.
