We from timte to time have a user moving from an 8410 to a 4610/4620 and complain that they can "hear themselves" in the earpiece. It is very low level and a little annoying, but the big thing is that it is just different than the old phones. Everything on the network is very good, firmware up-to-date, VMON is great, etc. We noticed that newer 46xx phones ship with a different handset - the new ones have a screw covered by a rubber plug. Has anyone noticed a difference in sidetone level ("haring yourself") between the two style handsets. Is maybe the one with a screw much better?

stlouis1,

starting with firmware version 2.4, the sidetone level is adjustable via configuration file. look in lan administrator's guide 2.4 for details.
