Quick and to the point:

Magix R2.0

Mix of MLX 20L and 4412D/4424D telsets

Executives have secretaries that have shared system access buttons on their phones for the execs.

Everything works accordingly except one! (That's how it always is, eh?)

One exec is setup as such: (MLX 20L)x4124

AD AD
AD AD
SA-OO Voice AD
SA-Ring (No Ring) Hdset Status
SA-Ring (Imm Ring) Hdset Hangup

The Assistant has an MLX 20L: x4120

SSA 02/4124 - Immed Ring SSA 02/XXXX Imm Ring
SSA 01/4124 - Delay Ring SSA 01/XXXX Delay Ring
SA-OO Voice AD
SA-Ring (Imm Ring) AD
SA-Ring (Imm ring) AD

When the exec is in "normal" operation mode, the buttons work as supposed to: 1st call delay ring, 2nd call imm ring.

The minute he puts on his hdset status button, the phone starts ringing immediately for 1st calls. I set up tests in my office and could not duplicate. The Avaya docs do not show any considerations or constraints for SSA with headsets, etc. Any insightful ideas why this may be occurring. Thanks in advance.

This is a puzzle for sure.

I would print one exec phone that works, and the one that does not work.

Then take a look to see if any differences can be seen.

Also, I would determine if the IDLE LINE SELECT is different on these two.

Well, I am probably wrong, but it is always good to start with the simplest things first. on the exec phone, press inspect, then press the headset status button. Is it really a headset status button, or did someone make a boo-boo during programmimg?

I figured you may want an update as to what may have solved the issue. A quirky little feature probably used once a millenium! ----- SEND RING (*15 ON / **15 OFF) ----- Why it was activated, I don't know. Used with SSA buttons. For people who have SSA buttons on delayed/no ring for ext A. If ext A has send ring "ON" - no matter what the ring option is set for on the ext B with the SSA button, when ext A is busy, ext B rings immediately. It is only a programming code, so it cannot be used with a feature button. Just wanted to share the info with you.

I trust the PRINT ALL helped you find this????

You know, I've worked on this system since before it was even introduced, and it never ceases to amaze me how I can learn something new about it ever so often.

I must do more research on SEND RING!

That's gotta' be good for something !

Thanx for the update.

Actually, I stumbled upon it by going page by page through the documentation. It was under considerations and constraints or feature interactions for Shared System Access in the Feature Reference Manual. I was working on antoher switch when I came across it jsut about hit my head on the desk in disbelief because I had checked the feature reference many times before trying to find what was causing the situation. I looked over the extension prints I did and it is not listed anywhere in those printouts. Interesting! Have a good one!
