I just purchased an HP desktop with HDMI and VGA outputs. I have an HP monitor with both VGA and HDMI inputs. But when I check the status, it saids VGA active and HDMI not connected. I loaded the driver that came with the monitor but the status still the same. How do I switch from VGA to HDMI? WIN Vista SP1

TIA

You shouldn't have to do anything special....I didn't. But try this.

Power off PC
Unplug monitor from powerstrip/wall socket
Remove VGA cable from back of PC
Remove VGA cable from back of monitor(if not hard wired)
Attach HDMI cable to monitor
Attach HDMI cable to video card on back of PC
Power on PC
