Having trouble with jumpy audio when exporting to tape

The video looks fine, but when I try to export my project to tape, the audio jumps every few seconds. I have no idea what upper or lower fields mean or what Interleaving audio means, I've read their definitions in the manual, but that doesn't help. What do I need to change in my settings to fix my problem? Like I said, the video looks perfect, it's just the audio that's skipping. HELP PLEASE!
