I'm having problems where we are able to send emails to people in the office but when we send emails out, everyone is getting a message undeliverable notice. At first I thought it was our Firewall but it was not. I was wondering if our server containing the Groupwise domain needed to be rebooted. The error says Groupwise agent repeatedly failed on this message. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Regarding the Undeliverable Massge that you are receiving, does it give you any further info? Such as "Recipient not found" or Domain Name not found", etc...?

How do you have your Internet Mail setup? Are you using GWIA, or some other form of SMTP Mail Server?

I have questions about your Internet Addressing configuration, but I will stop short of asking because the above questions need to be answered first.

Please advise.

Good Luck.

The message contains no further info. I am using GWIA mail server.

Look at the properties of the sent message. Does the Addressing look correct for the Recipient?

As far as your GWIA goes, is it setup as an External Foriegn Domain? Do you have to lead the recipients mail address with the name of the External Foriegn Domain that you are using? For example...

External Foriegn Domain Name - Internet

Internet:JohnDoe@anywhere.com

Also, what do your GWIA logs tell you? Make sure that Logging is in Verbose or Diagnostic Mode by pressing F10 / Logging Options. That should help you clarify what is going on when it attempts to send the messages.

Let me know.

Good Luck.

I checked the properties of the message that was sent back and everything checked out fine. I then went and checked my logs again to see if there was anything that I missed. Turns out that the GWIA module had become "unloaded" because it wasn't there. I then reloaded the GWIA and all seems fine now. Thanks for the suggestions and guidance. Does anyone have an idea why this happens or is it one of those freak things that occasionally happpen?

Happy day! Glad you were able to find the issue! Mail-related Agents do not just unload all by themselves.

Could the Server itself have restarted and GWIA was not in the AUTOEXEC.NCF to launch when the server came? Maybe someone else was doing some work on it and forgot to bring the GWIA back up?

Once again, Im glad things are functioning for once again!

Have a great day!
