Having a memory leak....need API

I have a large program that I think is leaking memory. Does anyone know of an API that can be called that will give me the amount of free memory ? I was going to show that number on the screen and try to figure out which part of the program is causing the problem.

Getting the amount of free memory is not enough for you.
You need some memory leak detection tool to help you to locate where leaks quickly.
