Is there any way, short of restarting the machine, to find out the hardware spec of a Novell 5 box?

What I'm really after is CPU speed and amount of memory, due to an upcoming potential upgrade!

If you type MEMORY at the server console, you will get the amount of memory in the server. If you type SPEED at the server console, you should get your required processor information

Thanks - memory looks odd though! It says the server hsa 392Mb, which would be 1x 256, 1x 128 and 1x 8??

Does "memory" include virtual memory as well or something?

If you are on about the swap file, type SWAP at the console

That extra 8MB is normal it includes all the cache memory's.
