I'm considering installing Exchange 2003 Standard Edition on the following server:

CPU = P4 1GHz
RAM = 640MB
HDD = 36.4GB useable - RAID 5

I'll be supporting about 150 users. I've read articles about Exchange running on servers with lower specs., I'm just hoping for more input one way or the other. Thanks.

your cpu kinda concerns me and your hdd space concerns me even more...on avg each user can have 1-5gb of mail and multiply that by 150

since your HDD space is very low i suggest you take advantage of setting up quotas for your user and setup a monitor to see how your HDD is doing.

make sure to maintain your server because you will need it.

if you run out of hardisk space you will have tons of errors coming to you.

goodluck

As Exchange standard is mentioned the store limit is 16Gb so the 36.4Gb useable won't be an issue.

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!
