I'm trying to figure out how I can setup my notebook running XP pro so that I can connect to my work LAN and my home LAN without going in a renaming the domain names, etc. Do you use hardwhere profiles to do that or is there another way? At home I either connect wirelessly or plug directly into the LAN, work is always a wired connection.

Leave all the settings to your Work LAN, when you plug in to your home lan the login by typing your user name as DOMAINNAME\UserName & your password as normal.
This will log you into your home network. While working unplugged from the network just login using you work login details.

You can use the Netsh utility to create batch files. See:

Each location is stored in a profile. Simply select a profile and your drives will be mapped correctly. the correct default printer will be selected. IP Addresses will be set correctly, the correct Proxy Server is selected, etc. You will be able to use your machine on any network with ease!
