Been having some problems for months on an HP laptop running XP Home. It has a built-in Synaptics touchpad running on an internal PS2 port, and a Logitech MX 700 wireless mouse running from a base station connected to a USB port. (The mouse is part of the Logitech Navigator Duo; the base station also supports a wireless keyboard but the keyboard uses separate drivers). Although things are generally functional when both mouse drivers are running, the Logitech "Buttons" tab is missing from the mouse control applet. The Logitech mouse has eight buttons. According to Logitech, every time we want to customize the buttons, we have to completely uninstall the Synaptics pad. This is inconvenient to say the least. I was hopeful that a second hardware profile could be established wherein Logitech would be the only installed mouse driver. So I copied the original hardware profile and tried disabling the Synaptics device in System Devices. On that device, there is no Disable option showing! BTW, when the Synaptics driver is uninstalled, the Logitech driver provides its basic functionality, but it becomes too sensitive (false clicks etc.). Any suggestions?
