Hardware Inventory - Computer System information not updating

All workstations in our company have a netbios name that equals whatever the cube location happens to be.

When a machine is moved to a different location, we change that netbios name.

Everything is SMS updates correctly and gets associated with the new name, except for when I look at Resource Explorer/Hardware and view the Computer System category, it still is associated with the old name.

Under Hardware History, Computer System is not listed.

We have not seen this on all moved computers, however, it is becoming more of an issue. For example, we moved about 20 machines and about 1/4 of them did not update. Sometimes it took 3 hardware inventory cycles for it to work, and sometimes manually kicking one off worked. I tried the invsync tool, that didn't work either.

Any ideas what I can look for?

I don't have an answer, but here are some thoughts (questions) ...
Are they changing subnets? Do you have SP4 applied plus the reg fix from Q281107?

Is there a mif backlog from slow processing?

Yes, we do have SP4 applied and the reg fix. Most computers have crossed subnets, however, there are a few that have not and we have experienced this problem.

I forgot to mention that the log files also appear correct, even logging when a new netbios name is discovered. However, the database doesn't seem to be updating unless we manually start the component on the machine or we wait about 3 hw inventory cycles (which are set to go weekly); and all the machines are left on so we can deploy sw to them.

Change the Hardware inventory update on a schedual for every hour, just to kick it up.
