Hi Mike,
Your best bet (depending on budget of course) is to try to pick up a Cisco 837 router (try e-bay, you shouldnt pay more than around £450 for it though.
The 837 has 4 ethernet ports and an ADSL port and is designed for SOHO (Small Office Home Office) networks.
Router sims are ok but there is nothing better than getting one working for the first time with what you have learned!!!
Bit of advice if you dont mind.... If you intend to do home courses in these certifications then don`t bother. I did my CCNA from a home course and failed miserably because the questions on the exam were not covered by the course material (nothing about OSPF or CIDR), with no advice to research them yourself. The college, of course, defended themselves with a lot of pathetic excuses so i have ended up losing a lot of money and studying myself from sources off the internet
If you are going to do the CCNA, go to college.
Good luck and have fun
