How can I be able to set a worksheet that goes across a row for about 7 columns and then tabs to the next row and starts over. I have a balance sheet where I want to be able to go down the worksheet as far as I want. But I only want the user to be able to go to the right 7 columns. When they try to go to the 8th column it tabs to the first column on the next row. Hope this makes since.

One method would be to lock the cells you do not want the user to select, and do not lock the cells you want the user to use. Then apply worksheet protection.

To lock/unlock cells
- Right-click the cells and choose Format Cells
- Protection tab
- Locked check box

To apply worksheet protection
- Tools, Protection, Protect Sheet or Protect Workbook

Why make it simple and efficient when it can be complex and wonderful?

Hi,

You can use the worksheet Protect feature.

1. select all cells and Format/Cells/Protection - and CHECK the Locked Checkbox

2. select only the cells that the user will be entering data in - Format/Cells/Protection - and UNCHECK the Locked checkbox

3. Tools/Protection/Protect Sheet

Now when the user [Tabs] ONLY the UNLOCKED cells will be cycled thru.

:)

Skip,

I did what you said. But now I cannot use any of the cells. It says that it is read only. What am I doing wrong?

Did you set the LOCKED property on each of the cells that you want to change to UNLOCKED???

1. Unprotect the sheet
2. Select the cells you need to change and Format/Cells/Protection - UNCHECK the Locked property
3. Protect the sheet

:)
