I hope I am in the right place to post this question,
I saw and used the trial version of a software that broke down and showed all items on the hard drive and how much memory the item used, for example it would show " my documents" and how many gb, then you could open up that folder and see what all was installed and again how much space it used. I hope this explanation helps.
Thanks in advance..................John

Thank you for the reply, Disk Data is the one I used, but the Jam software"tree size " does the same thing.
could I but you one more time the following c:/documents&settings/owner/local settings/temp is using 27 gb can i just delete these temp files? thanks again.....................John

Run the Disk Cleanup tool from within in the Owner????? user logon, this will remove all the files from the Temp folder which are safe to delete. You probably could manually delete the remainder too but Windows just to be safe likes to keep temp files less than a week old. After deleting that many GB's make sure you Defrag too.

Why are you using the Owner user? You might want to create an Administrator user and a Limited user instead via User Accounts.

Also there may be a bit of a problem with using "Owner" as the user especially if you have run Setup since your original install of XP Home. It might pay you to change your account to one with a new name and administrator rights.

The Owner Account Is Displayed As "Account Unknown" in Profiles on Windows XP Home Edition-Based Computers (Q312131)

To add a new user to the computer.

You must have a computer administrator account to add a new user to the computer.

Open User Accounts in Control Panel.
Under Pick a task, click Create a new account.
Type a name for the new user account, and click Next.
Click either Computer administrator or Limited, depending on the type of account you want to assign to the new user, and then click Create Account.

If you see an account named Owner, rename that account with a user's name. The Owner account, with computer administrator privileges, is created during installation if no user accounts are set up at that time.
