hard drive crash

hi my hard drive crashed but i was able to recover all the file with nortons but it crashed again i found that my motherboards secondary ide chanel has died whic made my hard drive crash again i have bought a new motherborad but i can not recover my files with nortons. i know the data is still there bu it is hidden is there anyway to recover the data as it is still physicaly there but hidden

pleas help because there is about 15gigs of holiday video

If only hidden, then attrib -h *.*. If other corruption then norton's disk editor and manipulate the bits in the directory sector/fat table. BUT, you have to know your data and the filesystem layout and you can rally munge your stuff if you do it wrong. Ed Fair

I think what phil meant is its not attribute hidden, its just that he cant see it hidden. What exactly is the error or problem you are getting when trying the HDD on the new board? Maybe you just dont have it configured correctly for your hard drive.
 
With dos, run fdisk and see what shows. See if it agrees with cmos. Look on mfg website for specs on drive. Everything must agree.
Is drive detected by cmos? If so then possible fdisk /mbr might make it readable. Just don't do anything to mess with the partition table.
What was the problem with the secondary channel? Shouldn't affect the boot disk.
