Platter drive motor failed on my Caviar 850 Mb drive<br>
during Lost&Found data recovery.<br>
Removed platter/hub assembly & installed into known good<br>
identical drive.<br>
Upon startup, read/write head moves from park zone roughly to centre of platter, pauses briefly, & then moves to extreme outside & stays there.<br>
Lost&Found shows that it is doing a disk analysis, but the R/W heads remain on the outside diameter until the drive is powered down.<br>
What is causing this, & how to fix?<br>
