Hopefully this is in the right place. I did not see a
system specific forum for my question. Any help appreciated.

New PBX Avaya systems in my call center, configured to use standard Plantronics headsets formerly used with an amplifyer box with the our old Nortel/Centrex phones.

Works great for headsets with no add-ons.
Using Teljack to quick-connect from phone to headsets.

Some agents wish to use handsets instead of headsets.
Logic said if we connect phone to telco/quick cord then use a second quick/telco cord to get to the handset it might work ...but zero signal for ear and from vox.

Working with 4 wire BK,R,W,G .

I can get either a strong dial tone OR a strong voice transmittal ... but never BOTH at the same time.

Since the headsets work great ... what is different in
a regular headset setup than for a handset. Any ideas?

Is replacing the CallMaster V with 6416 sets an option? The CM V is nothing but a 6416 without a handset.....

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

At the back of the CM V there is a headset connection and a regular connection which is for the handset. Make sure on the Station Form you have the Headset field set to 'y', and then program one of the feature buttons for a headset. This feature button will be used to switch from headset to handset and visa versa. Hope this helps.

if i remember correctly, the pairs are rolled in that quick connect. i suppose they did this to get people to purchase new quick discos for the cmv sets.

there seem to be 2 flavors of quick discos floating around here. 1 has a smoke colored jack and works on the 64xx phones. the other has a clear jack and works on the callmaster 5.

we had about 50 spare discos with smoke colored jacks i a box so we just rolled the pairs (from 1234 to 2143) and recrimped. they work like a champ.

hope that helps you get to where you need to go.

Thanks SF0751
~ we just bought or leased 700 CMVs , so switching to 6416s is no option.

Thanks TelecomHeadache
