i am very new to flash 5 and i am incredibly stuck.

i drew a picture on paper which i scanned into photoshop then i just copy and pasted it in to flash as i could not work out how to import it.

the problem is now i want to edit it to animate it and it will not let me. i know i need to split the picci up to put it on to seperate layers. but to do that would i need to draw each layer seperatly then import it? But that still poses the problem of not being able to edit it.

Any help would be great

hi dayzee

when you import a layer, import it as a BMP/JPG, select it on the stage and Press Ctrl+b to break it up. You'll then be able to modify it to your hearts content. OR...import it as JPG/BMP but don't break it up, just select the graphic and press F8 to convert it to a manipulatable Flash graphic, as which you can motion-tween etc.

Hi Dayzee,
I encourage you to press F1, the help files in Flash 5, and to have a look on the Contents page at Using Imported Artwork to answer your first question, and then maybe Creating Animation to answer you second one. Don't know how sophisticated your drawing is... But you can then search up Breaking Apart & the sort.
You could even import you drawing, put it on a layer, and using it as a guide redraw over it (with the Flash tools) on other layers, separating the different elements you can then animate separately, and then finaly get rid of your original drawing.

Start with that and come back with more specific questions.
