I have a feeling someone has hacked into a PC on our network (locally or remotely, I don't know). This is one area I know nothing about so if you have any useful tips or know any sites that discuss the basics of hacking (and securing against it!) please let me know.

Thanks a lot for any help!!!

Every corporate network should have a firewall. At the very least, a 486 running Linux, with Apache proxy server and IPchains (total cost around £20 for the 486).

I use 2 excellent products on my home network in addition; ZoneAlarm and BlackIce Defender.

Hopefully your budget can stretch to something meatier, like Checkpoint, but if not, these tools are OK.

Check out and - don't be put off by the fact that someone subjected them to a DoS attack recently - far from it; read their reactions!

Good Luck!
