we recently replaced a tie-line T1 with a tie-line PRI and ever since then the caller ID info shows an H. It's been explained to me that because the tieline is now a PRI that's just the way it is. That's fine, but no-one can tell me what H actually means. If anyone knows, please let me know so I can explain the meaning of the H to the powers that be. thanks.

Not sure but maybe "H" is coming from "Home". The reason? In Meridian MCDN network (TIE line), private routing can be defined with AC2 access code. In this case, each remote sites can be defined with LOC code (LD90) and local site has its own Home location (HLOC)

I don't actually know why the H is there or what it stands for. But it seems like it presented whenever you get a incoming call via internal network. If you get an external call you will not get it I think?

The "H" is a hard coded option in the X11/X21 software that indicates a Private Network Call.

In the US, this cannot be turned off. In the UK, the vendor can apply a special type of patch to turn this off. In Switzerland, Swisscom (who has rights to the Nortel source code) has written special patches to modify or change this on some of the older releases.

This "H" shows up regardless if the call is Q.SIG, or MCDN. It is applied whenever the PRI Setup messgae is received with NUMBER PLAN: PRIVATE and TYPE OF NUMBER: ESN or CDP.
