I have a four server (HPUX 11.0) Veritas (4.5MP6) environment. The gui indicates two backups more than a month active are still running. I have restarted the gui several times but the bogus backups still show as active. However, under the "details" tab, both backups have a start and end time. How do I "remove" the backups from active status since they completed a month ago?

check the man pages on the command bpdbjobs
It can cancel/delete jobs and clean the jobs db.

Sometimes that doesn't even work. I've used pskill to kill the pids and even processes. Were any of these jobs multiplexed? There were some issues with killing "hung" multiplexed jobs that were fix later in 5.1.

It sounds like your jobs are not really running, if that is the case, and you simply want to remove them follow these steps.

Change paths as needed for your system... make backups as needed.. =)

Go in the GUI, find the jobs in question, and write down the JobID's

cd /usr/openv/netbackup/db/jobs/trylogs
rm jobID.t
cd /usr/openv/netbackup/db/jobs/ffilelogs
rm jobID.f
cd /usr/openv/netbackup/db/jobs
rm bpjobd.act.db
bpjobd -terminate
bpjobd &

Open the GUI and the jobs will be gone..

Dorqa,

Where is the documentation on the jobs db?
/usr/openv/netbackup/db/jobs/trylogs/jobID.t
/usr/openv/netbackup/db/jobs/ffilelogs/jobID.t
/usr/openv/netbackup/db/jobs/bpjobd.act.db
