Not sure I understand your question but I'll try to answer the best I can...
There are specific options define the the X12 guide that indicate what values you can use. examples are: 'Dunns', 'HINN', 'TIN' and mutually defined. The value once chosen needs to be static. The receiver will/should kick out docs from unknown/unidentifiable senders. If at some time you choose to change what you are using just let your trading partners know.
The GS-Sender is allows more options. Static also.

Some trading partners such as Ford, Chrysler, and Visteon make it easy: They will have you use your supplier code as the ISA and GS sender ID.
If your trading partner leaves the choice up to you, I recommend your DUNS number. That seems to be the most commonly used that I've seen.
