Upgrading to 6.5 is not that bad. Personally I would do an inplace upgrade on the 5.1 box and then move it. MOF that's what we're about to do here. (already upgraded, about to move) Tay Kratzer's GW 6.5 admin book has a lot of good info about moving postoffices etc. Be sure to run your health checks (top down rebuild!) and get patched up first. At any rate, it's a lot nicer than exchange when it comes time to upgrade or even do DR.. just install a system and point it at the POA files and it will work. Doesn't sound like an amazing feature until you see how the competition does it.
