i have records that may have a few no#s associated to each record..

i.e. i have a call record that may have however many change request no#s associated to it..

so if i have a call # 123456 and then 3 change request, how can i count the no# of calls on a report without including the change request no#s..

because in my query say call # 123456 is there, it will show as 3 records instead of one because it has 3 change request associated to it....

any suggestions?

Make a separate query.

Add the table you describe above as a data source.

Drag in the call# field from the data source to the query.

Click on the sigma (group by) icon, to enable grouping.

Leave the call# field as "Group By".

Save/close the query, let's call it qry1.

Now make a second query. Use qry1 as the data source.

Drag in the call# field from qry1.

Click on the sigma (group by) icon.

Change "group by" to "count".

You now have a grand total. Attach this second query to whatever other query you wanted to use for the report.
