I'm using Active Directory on Windows 2000 server. 2 questions:

1. How do I access and administrer Group Policy for the domain?

2. Can I have Group Policy manage drive mapping for users like the old logon scripts used to do in NT?

Thanks.

Is this for 2000 or 2003? Either way, from the DC, you should be able to administer your domain group policy by going into Administrative tools and choosing domain security policy.

If you have an XP system on the domain, or you have a 2003 server/DC, you can get the following tool which helps in with setting up Group Policy:

Ok, that's good. Got the GPMC running now. But what I've yet to understand for sure is exactly how do I actually "set" the policies? It looks as if I am forced to get into scripting with VBScript of JScript in order to set password parameters up???

For example, I want to set the Domain Password Policy to where the passwords expire every 60 days. Exactly where and/or how do I do this? There doesn't appear to be any way to accomplish this in the GPMC. Thanks.

Actually, there is. You may want to also look as the link with a spreadsheet telling you where all the settings are. One of the other guys will help if the link is wrong (I hope):

In your example, you should right click your OU/domain policy and choose edit. This will bring up a MMC type snap-in. Once there, you should be able to go to Computer Config->Windows Settings->Security Settings->Account Policies->Maximum password age.
