I'm working on a stand alone XP PRO workstation (not on domain). What I need to do is set the Group Policy for just a User. I want to restrict his start menu, desktop, etc... In the past with 2000 Pro, I set the policy with gpedit.msc then deny access to the "C:\Winnt\System32\GroupPolicy" folder for all users that I don't want this policy to apply to. With XP, it see this folder as a system folder and will not let me change the security on the folder. How can I set this policy and have it apply to only a certain user or group? Thanks.

As I understand it there are two GP sections, Computer Configuration and User Configuration. Any changes made to User Configuration should only affect the current user that is logged on at time of the settings. Any other person that logs on should not be affected.SO you could have different settings for each user and a majority of the settings you want are under the User Configuration settings.
