Hi all..

We have about 50 PC's and I was wondering if there was some type of an easier way to do this... My boss has a file he had me store on our file server. He wants everyone to have an icon/shortcut on their desktop that points to it.

Our file server is mapped to drive "F" on everyone's machine.

If I create a short pointing to to "F:/Documents/DocumentName.xls", can I use group policy to have that icon placed on everyone's machine desktop when they log in next? Is this possible without me having to run around to 50 machines just to create a shortcut?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Within the GPO snap-in, User Configuration-> Admin Templates-> Desktop-> Active Desktop. There is a policy called Add/Delete items. In the explanation, it states that you can Add web-based items or shortcuts. Seems that might work, but I'm not sure...

Ahhh I see that now. I'm not sure how it wants the shortcut format, it's asking for a URL?
If I put //server/docs/document.ink think that might work?
Or F:/docs/document.ink maybe through the mapping?

I'm going to give it a try now. THANKS!
