I have a group policy created however I cant find the place to where I can disable the right click permission for everyone. I blocked most of the stuff however users can stil right click and access all the drives.
Your input is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi Porkchopexpress and thank you for your response. I checked all the itmes within the Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Explorer but I could not find the item that disables the right click!!! Is it possible to tell me the exact item if is not to much to ask. I read every single item and its description but I could not find it. I reallt appreciate your kind help. Thank you

Hi

The "Remove Windows Explorer's default context menu" is the one that you want to enable, this will prevent users from right clicking on the desktop and in shell folders.

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Explorer::Remove default windows explorer context menu setting

Hope this Helps.

Not that even though it is in the Hkey Local Machine registry as PCEs earlier link showed, in the policy template, it is actually under USER CONFIGURATION, NOT Computer

Hope this Helps.

Yes sorry i reread that link later and realised the policy setting is hidden at the bottom of the page.

The direction for that technet advice was a bit poor, it should mention that it's a User setting, and not a computer setting, I know it might be obvious, but if they are going to put direction to the setting, they shouldn't pick it up "half way", so to speak.

Hope this Helps.

Hi guys and thank you all for your great responses however the User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Explorer::Remove default windows explorer context menu setting is already ENABLED on my Group Policy but users can still right click and created a shortcut to any drives they want. I have all the drives hidden but if you right click on the desktop it will let you choose to create a shortut to any drive that you wish. Any other thoughts?
