Where can I find this? I am told it's really good to load on and XP Pro client to manage group policies

Click Start -> Run, then type dsa.msc and hit OK.

If this doesn't work, you may need to install the Admin Tools: Download Adminpack.msi

Also, here is a brief intro on the Admin Pack: Adminpack Turtorial

You can see in the tutorial that Adminpack.msi can also be found on the server CD in i386 (I think), so if you have Windows 2000 instead of Windows 2003, you might use that one instead. Not sure of any compatibility issues.

No disrespect Wil but I thought DSA was the msc for Directory Services. GPMC.MSC in the \windows\system32 folder is the location for Group Policy Manager but this has to be loaded additionally to the standard list of .MSC's.

If GPMC isn't loaded additionally then:-

Start>Run>MMC

File>Add/Remove Snap-in>Add>Group Policy Management>Add>Close>OK

Hope this helps (is correct!)
Cheers

None taken. Using Directory Services you right click on the domain, or OU in which you have the Group Policy and click Properties. You then click the Group Policy Tab and click New to cretae another one, or Edit to edit an existing one.

Your way is fine too... no disrespect intended! [smile]

More focused, though. I'd rather have lots of options in one window. For eample, the Computer management introduced in Windows 2000 was right up my alley (no inuendos please!) [smile]

There is a new enhanced GPMC I downloaded yesterday that allows you to "test" GP changes too. It is called: gpmc.msi and can be donwloaded from:GMPC with SP1

With the new version, if you go into dsa and right-click, and then GP tab, you get a button that asks if you want to open GPMC. All in one window, just how i like it! ;)

Sorry... when I posted originally, there was an error from Tek-tips... so I added a sentence I forgot, and then sent it again, but now both posts have been applied! Oh well!
