Hi

I've been setting up a testing environment to try some security settings within a Win2K domain. It consists of a W2K domain server and a W2K Prof workstation. I've also created an OU inside the domain's AD to which I applied a customized GPO. However, when I log onto the workstation, registered at the DC, only the local GPO is loaded (I can tell because the OU GPO disables the control panel). Using the GPRESULT tool also shows that only the local GPO has been loaded. What has to be done to ensure that the domain's GPO's are loaded as well?

Thanks.

As long as the user or workstation is in the OU that you have created the GPO in it should be applied. However if you are not having the GPO settings applied it is probably
your DNS configuration ( as is often the cause with many Win2k problems)

Check your DNS is set up on your server correctly and that the client PC has the DNS settings configured correctly.
This is almost certainly the problem.

However you can use this tip to help troubleshoot if it isn't

hope this helps

I'd make sure the computer has rights to the GPO

I have to try this at work, so it will have to wait until monday. Anyway, thanks for your help; I will inform you if you were right as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Tim

The problem was indeed situated inside the client's DNS configuration. Once properly configured, all GPO's applied to their respective OU's.

Thanks for your help!
