I am running a domain with a domain controller on Windows 2003 Server. Just recently, I needed to make some minor adjustments to the GPO on one of my OU's. I was logged into the server as Domain Adminstrator and now I am getting an error I never used to get before: "Failed to open Group Policy Object. You may not have appropriate rights."
I never had this problem before, so I don't know where it came from or when it started. If the domain administrator does not have access to the group policy then there must be some serious problem.
After checking the event logs I found that the domain controller is getting all kinds of Group Policy errors. Since there are some shared folders on the server, I checked the security permissions to see if the Domain Administrator had access, which it had Full Control. When trying to get to the same folders through the share by going to run and typing \\"domain name" , I was denied access to all of the shares, even though the Domain Administrator has full control over the share permissions and security. What steps should I take in order to see why the domain administrator is being denied access? Any help is greatly apreciated.
