I have had GP's configured and working for some time. In fact they date back to when our domain controllers were w2k. The schema is now 2k3R2. I now have to open group policy management to edit policies where before I could just right click and edit. Now when I open them in the editor it appears that no policies are configured but they are still there and are being applied I can see the results in the clients. Can anyone help me with what might be going on here? It seems I just can't view the policies that are configured.

Need a little more info about your network history here to make sense of this.

Is the server an upgraded one? How many DCs do you have? How many GCs?

The way you access policies has changed as you see. ADUC is no longer used and GPMC is now required. GPMC has many advantages so change in this respect is a good thing.

The fact that within GPMC you are not seeing any policies leads me to believe that they have not replicated to this server. Your workstations may in fact just be using the configuration they always did since a policy will not reverse unless another GPO or the same GPO disable a setting.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

Thanks for the reply...

I have five DC's and all are GC's. None of the DC's were upgrades. Currently, four are w2k3R2 64bit and one id w2k3SP1. When I look in GPMC I see all of my policies just like always. When I open them and look at the setting everything says not configured. I am sure policies are being applied as we are adding new users and computers and the policies are in effect on them when the join the domain.
