I recently installed active directory, and created a group policy. I assigned the group policy to an OU, and logged into it, but I still cannot get the policy to work. I have tried a variety of security settings along with diffrent user and group rights with no success. Any input would be appricated.

Go back into the GPO. There is a security tab. You must add the user or group to the security of the GPO. You will see the security description of APPLY. Make sure that after you add the user or group, that you select APPLY.

As well as Josephs suggestions.

Check you have DNS set up correctly and your client has a valid address for a DNS server. GPOs will not be applied without a valid DNS server.

If this still doesn't work check using gpresult to see if the policies are being applied.

Also you can enable userenv debugging - which will give you clues.

Also how many DCS do you have - it may be a replication problem - probably one of above though.

Hope this helps
