GRE Port 47

Ok. I understand how to forward TCP port 1723 from my linkys router to the VPN server. But what on earth is GRE port 47? I have no idea how to forward that. I have looked and researched, and still cannot find the solution. Thankyou

thinks I figured it out. Sometimes its referred to as
pptp pass through... Am I correct?
I have that enabled in my linksys router.
