Graphics lost on printing after a few pages

My application is a regular printing application. Each page has many small graphic elements. Pages print OK - hundreds of different pages at a time.

But when the graphic load on a page reaches a certain threshold, only the first 5 or 6 pages print OK. Later pages come out with some graphic elements missing.

Anyone heard about anything like this?
