Hi,

Not sure if this is the right forum...

I currently have a MSI Nvidia FX5600 card which was working fine for the past few months. Recently, my hard disk crashed, and I reinstalled my operating system (windows 2000). However, I just found out that I have this problem whereby when I change my screen resolution, or an application changes to full screen mode, the display just go blank, but the monitor light is still on (and I think the signal is detected cos the monitor did not go to sleep mode).

I tried to reinstall the display drivers. Previously, I used the MSI drivers, but I reinstalled the latest drivers from Nvidia website. The problem still exists, but now, I have a new error in my event log with the following message:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7026

Description:
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
DumaNT

So far I don't see any implications of this error. However, I can't seem to find any information about this driver and I want to know how to get rid of this error.

Would appreciate if someone could help me out on these 2 problems. Thanks in advance.

Russ.

Hi,

Firstly download the nVidia drivers again, just in case they have become corupted. Then go to the Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the nVidia drivers. Next in Device Manager select and delete the graphics card. Reboot the machine let Windows re-find the graphics card, don't install drivers if it asks for them. Finally install the drivers again, and pray that it sorts the problem.

If that doesn't work it's back here for some further suggestions! DumaNT refers to:

dumant.sys DumaNT Auxillary Driver for Stereo or DUMA NT Keyboard Filter Windows (R) 2000 DDK provider or NVIDIA Corporation Stereo Helper Driver or Stereo Driver.

Regards,

Gavin Coles.

Hi, I tried to uninstall the nVidia drivers through the Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs and reinstall. However, the error still shows in the error log. I checked the nVidia configuration and there wasn't any Stereo Driver menu, which appeared when I used the MSI drivers. Also, the referred system file dumant.sys is missing from the system32/drivers folder. So, I went into the registry and deleted the entries for DumaNT under services. So far, there hasn't been any errors since I deleted the entries.

Thanks for your help =p
