Anyone have any titles they'd recommend for learning Access quickly and well? I know many other app's and I programmed dBase in the DOS days so I don't want anything too basic. I'm using Access 2000 presently. I'd like some well written tutorials that will leave me fluent in most functions.

I was in the same position as you when I started with Access 2000. I first used "Beginning Access 2000 VBA" by Smith and Sussman, a Wrox book. Then I graduated to the "Access Developer's Handbook" two volume set by Getz and Litwin, published by Sybex. (You don't need v. 2 unless you're specifically looking for info on network or client/server programming.)

I have used lots of computer books over the years, and these are two (or three, if you count that ADH is a 2 volume set) of the best I've ever used. Even though the Smith and Sussman book is labelled "Beginning", it's not for non-programmers. It's perfect for someone with your background. -- Herb

Will this Smith and Sussman book help to familiarize me with the various menu functions? I guess the "VBA" part of the title makes me worry that it's jumping right into programming VBA when I still don't know my way around the Access application.

Whoops, I forgot. For just learning to use Access as a power user (i.e., without VBA), I also used "Acces 2000, The Complete Reference." It's one of the big think black and white Osborne books. It's pretty good.
