I am coming from a VB 6.0 background, and I have been enlisted by a friend to help build database driven web-site using MySQL and ASP.net (basically going to archive a bunch of documents online, and need to be able to access them on demand). Can anyone recommend a good book or two to help me pick up what I need to know?

Thanks in advance. Thought for the day: Beware of Gods who cannot laugh...

Hi
I am personally fond of ASP.NET Unleashed by Stephen Walther, published by SAMS. It's HUGE as well, which is always good. Have no idea whether it would be good for your case in particular, but it's a bit of an all-rounder.

PS Oh, and just in case - i have no affiliation/relation/whatever with the author, publisher etc!

Do you guys know if those books actually cover visual studio as well? the book i used didn't, and as a result it made me choose to use web matrix... But I think i'd like something that not only taught you the language, but the IDE as well...

Most of them do. But it's not essential. Daren J. Lahey
