Hmm, those are a little bit pricey for me. I'd just like a cheap one like that one on eBay. It says you can use half of the screen.
thx

I got my dell laptop off of ebay.. a p3 500 256MB ram 40GB drive, cdrom, floppy, 10/100 card, power supply, case, and the remainder of dell's 3 year warranty for $550. It has worked flawlessly for over 2 years now. no extra parts were needed. It's probably worth ~$300 now.

I'd keep looking. Sure you can use 1/2 of the screen now, but what about in a month or 2?

Need to find out more about the laptop as what parts are interchangable with other models. Some laptops the screen is actually made by panasonic or some other company. Every now and then there's an auction for the screen which often go fairly cheap. When I say screen I'm not talking about the whole housing, just the screen surface, so you'd need to disassemble the screen casing to change it. You could do that or buy a same model laptop that is broken with a working screen and just disconnect and unbolt it and put it on your working one. Hard drive should be under a panel and held with a few screws. You could probably get everything going on it for under $100 a fairly simple labor.
