Hi,

Can somebody please help me with nt workstation set-up. I have nt server 4.0 sp 6 and 10 nt workstation computers.

I am getting really confused with profiles. Some people are logging on and not getting printers, some are getting wrong date formats - proxy server ip doesn`t appear on some users Internet explorer.

Is there any way I can create one default profile for new users to pick up when they log on - with all the settings they need. I just want a default profile that I could copy to the ten workstations and would include:-

uk regional settings
2 network printers
internet explorer proxy ip in the connections tab and default web page set to yahoo.
Also a piece of accounts software reqires the computer to have a LANID.
This is also another problem when new users log onto a workstation - it dosen`t pick up the LANID and I have to keep on adding it.

I would really appreciate a step by step guide in creating a default profile.

Thanks in advance.

1. Log onto a workstation as a new user to get a blank profile.
2. Configure the profile the way you want it.
3. Create a folder called Default User in the netlogon shares of your PDC and all your BDCs.
4. Copy the profile you've created to that folder using the copy profile function accessable by right-clicking on My Computer, selecting properties, and going to the Profiles Tab. Make sure that everybody has access.

Now when a user that doesn't have a local profile logs in, they will use the template that you've set up.

This will only effect new users, if you have existing users who you want to use this new profile, delete their old profile (make sure you've backed up their data). Marc Creviere
