I've set up a DNS server on w2k. I've tested it by statically assigning it as my primary DNS. Everything works.

I bought a domain name on goDaddy.com and want to use my DNS server but it's giving me errors. If i put in my DNS's IP address (ex 123.123.123.123) i get this error: "Nameserver 1 has an invalid TLD." Am I doing it wrong? Are DNS not suppose to be entered in as IP addresses?

I also tried putting in my company's DNS server (NS1.MyCompany.com, NS2.MyCompany.com) and i get this error: "Unavailable error in field Host name1." Please help!

A name server should be presented to the registrar as a FQDN and IP address because they need to create glue records for those servers.

As for the errors, your best bet is to ask goDaddy.

Chris.
