Hi everyone

I have a table with key CHILDID. I want to be able to enter a CHILDID on a search form, and have the main data entry form open to the record with CHILDID.

I'm stuck trying to figure out how to move to the correct record on the main data entry form.

Thanks in advance

One of the easiest and user friendly ways to accomplish this is to have your form be a bound form, meaning that the RecordSource property has either a table or a query of a table indicated.

To make this simple make sure that the Wizard is activiated in your toolbox's toolbar. Using the Combobox tool create a combobox on the form(place it anywhere at this time) and follow the wizard's prompts. The first prompt will ask if you want ACCESS to create a combobox that will locate a record on the form from the pick in the combobox. Make sure that this option is selected. Now follow the wizard and when done Save the form. Now open the form and you will see that by opening the ComboBox you can either type or scroll to make a pick of a record. The record selected will now be used to move to the same record on the main form.

Give that a try and I will then give you a few more hints at making it User Friendly and very intuititive for your users.

hi,

i have one problem now that i hope you could help me with.

I can't seem to be able to enter more than one record in my database.

After i have entered in one record, when i go to enter in a new record, the first record's data is still in the form. The new record button will not switch to a new record.

Here is how my forms are set up.

I have a main form with key CHILDID.

I have a restart form with a combo box bound to CHILDID.

If i want to restart data entry, i open up the restart form, select the CHILDID i wish to restart and then the restart form closes, the main form opens with the focus on the proper question. (this works perfectly).

After i enter data for one child, when I try to enter data for another child, I'm stuck in the orginial record.

Thanks in advance.
