Both of our domain controllers are unable to find the Global Catalog.

Both domain controllers are set to be Global Catalogs.

We are getting the following error in Directory Service:

Active Directory was unable to establish a connection with the global catalog.

Additional Data
Error value:
1355 The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted.
Internal ID:
3200caf

User Action:
Make sure a global catalog is available in the forest, and is reachable from this domain controller. You may use the nltest utility to diagnose this problem.

We were in the process of adding a new domain. We wanted a new forest, but accidently added a child domain to the current forest. We are in the process of removing that child domain. Im not sure if this has anything to do with this.

In the meantime, Group Policies have ceased to be applied, the following error has started occuring in Application:

Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO cn={823CE30D-09C6-41BD-B79E-61C5D7698097},cn=policies,cn=system,DC=sol,DC=scld,DC=org. The file must be present at the location <\\sol.scld.org\SysVol\sol.scld.org\Policies\{823CE30D-09C6-41BD-B79E-61C5D7698097}\gpt.ini>. (Access is denied. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

Whats going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
